I used to use SIS Go Electrolyte a lot when

I used to use SIS Go Electrolyte a lot when I ran marathons although I no longer do that. I do still use an indoor rower so I thought I'd try this newer version. The first thing I noticed was that they are quite hard to dissolve compared to the old Go Electrolyte. At first I thought it may have been because I was using very cold water so I changed that but that didn't seem to make much difference. I was also over-diluting it (using about 800ml rather than the recommended 600ml) and when I cut back to the "right" ratio it did seem to mix better, but I still had to shake the bottle for a long time to get all the powder to dissolve. Once it was mixed the flavour was excellent. Very orangey but clean and not overly sweet. It also felt very easy on the stomach, but as I'm not drinking this twenty miles into a marathon I can't claim it has been field tested. I used it on some long rows but that isn't quite the same thing as trying to get it down near the end of a marathon with the stress on the stomach that entails. They certainly provided some energy without being overpowering but at around £2.50 a sachet I wouldn't be using these regularly. I think the Go Electrolyte still goes for abou £20 for 40 doses although that does contain Aspartame (iirc) which this one doesn't seem to do. However, at this price I won't be using them regularly.

The sachets for this are to be mixed with 600ml

The sachets for this are to be mixed with 600ml of water, which is a very odd choice of volume. I don't have any drinks bottles that are 600ml, and even my Science in Sport bottles are 800ml. It's a very odd decision by SiS and means you either waste some powder, have a bottle not completely full, or have the wrong strength drink. The sachets are very convenient, as you can top up your energy drinks when you're out on a ride just by buying a bottle of water, but the 600ml thing is very strange, and mildly annoying. I'd have much preferred they aligned this sachets with their own water bottles so you can dump and go. The benefit of not having to measure out your powders by using a sachet is complete undermined. Oh well. That said, the drink is effective. It uses a slightly different ratio of maltodextrine to fructose than the 2:1 that most drinks use, and it makes - no discernible difference to me. I'm not an elite athlete that would notice these things though. It's a nice tasting drink with a not over-strong taste which I prefer in an energy drink as i find I get more sensitive to flavours the harder I work. It mixes well, but give the packet a shake before you pour it out or it can clump up. it doesn't seperate out in your bottle, so you get a consistent drink over a few hours, and stays drinkable even when its warmed up a bit, and isn't sickly sweet to the point you just can't face another swig of the stuff. The energy release feel measured, and there's no crash as it wears off. It's good stuff, perhaps a bit on the expensive side at £2 or so a sachet, and the volume is annoying, but its easy to use and effective. Worth a go.

I ordered this in the hopes that it would help

I ordered this in the hopes that it would help both my wife and I with our energy levels as we have different ailments which make us quite tired and easily fatigued. On opening, this box contains fifteen sachets of powder, each of these are well sealed and easily opened when required. On the first day, I made up a jug of this drink using just one sachet, it mixes very easily and can be put in the refrigerator for drinking through the day. I poured my wife a glass and myself and then gave it a try, unfortunately I found it to be not to my liking, it tasted weak and not sweet enough for my taste but my wife loved it so I guess it's a bit of a Marmite product in that respect. After my first taste I left the rest for my wife to drink at her leisure and the one jug full lasted her for two and a bit days. She has now been using this for a few weeks and her energy levels do seem to be better than before, she has replaced her breakfast and afternoon snack with this drink and will also have a glass instead of water during the day. I would think that if this was used as intended for sports and endurance it would work very well at lifting energy levels as this has been one of only a very few products out of many that we have tested that have actually helped my wife get through the day without feeling lethargic and sometimes even falling asleep. Hated by me, loved by my wife so you need to make up your own minds on the taste but it works. Recommended by my wife.

Science in Sport is well known brand that I using

Science in Sport is well known brand that I using regularly and was really excited to try their energy drink sachets. Unfortunately this is the first product from this brand that disappoints me. Main reason is that is nearly impossible to dissolve. I tried everything, I use shaker and even a whisk or milk frother to stir it and drink still was lumpy. Second thing is a taste. I just dont like it. It taste very artificial and strange. Also the size of the drink is a bit awkward. You need to add 600ml of water and most of sport bottle shakers are ether 500ml, 800ml or 1000ml. I own just 500ml so I had to mix it in a bowl and then pour it to the bottle. It was a bit annoying.
